Adryelson and Lucas Perri were Fernando Diniz’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers
With the call-up of defender Adryelson, Botafogo returns to having two players in its squad. Brazilian team after 10 years. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri was already in Fernando Diniz’s group. The last time this happened was in 2013, when Jefferson and Dória were called up by Felipão for a friendly match against Bolivia, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
In 2010, only players playing in Brazil were called to make the list of 18 names. The friendly was held in honor of Bolivian fan Kevin Espada, 14, who died after being hit by a naval rocket during a match between San José and Corinthians, in Oruro.
For a World Cup call-up the deadline is even longer: 25 years. Defender Gonçalves and forward Bebeto represented Brazil at the 1998 World Cup in France and finished second, losing to the home team in the final.
The call-up of the two players highlights the quality work that Botafogo is carrying out this season. After a less than encouraging start to the season, the team has achieved good results in the Brazilian championship and easily leads the competition, with a great chance of becoming Brazilian champion.
With both athletes, Brazil will face Uruguay this Tuesday (17th), at 9pm, at the Centenário Stadium in Montevideo. Alvinegro returns to the pitch on Wednesday (18th), at 8pm, at the Arena Independência, against América-MG.
