The disappearance of Marwan Beren: will the filming of Plus belle la vie be delayed?

A year after its hiatus, Plus belle la vie is preparing to return to TF1. A sequel eagerly awaited by fans of the France 3 series, who are already looking forward to rediscovering Mistral and its iconic inhabitants.

Unfortunately, the return of Plus belle la vie, which should have been joyous, was dramatic to say the least. Marwan Beren, who played Abdel Fedala, has been missing since August 3 after the actor’s car crashed into a young woman. And no one has heard from him since… until Thursday, October 12th.

That day, the man’s lifeless body was found in an abandoned farm in Courcelles-en-Beaujolais, not far from where the mangled car was found. Bananas on this body were Marwan Beren’s identity documents.

If the body hasn’t been officially identified yet, taking 3 to 15 days for DNA analysis, there’s a good chance it’s that of the young actor. Will this discovery have an impact on the filming of Plus belle la vie, which is set to begin this Monday, October 23?

Will Plus belle la vie start shooting on October 23?

Faced with the uncertainty of Marwan Beren’s return, the production teams have already started adapting the scripts. The launch story, which was supposed to revolve around Abdel Fedala and Barbara Evenot (Léa François), the two main characters from Plus belle la vie, reunited in November 2022 during the final bonus broadcast, was thus shelved.

On September 8, Stephanie Bremond, Deputy General Manager responsible for series and long-form series at Newen Studios, also announced that filming of Plus belle la vie will resume as planned on October 23 at the Belle de Mai studio.

This actor was expected on set and was actually in the trailer broadcast by TF1, but when we learned of his unavailability, we hadn’t yet decided what we were going to shoot first.“- he explained at the time.

And it looks like production plans haven’t changed since filming is set to begin this Monday, October 23. The actors who will return for the sequel to Plus belle la vie are waiting at the Belle de Mai studio on Monday. Broadcasting should begin in early January 2024.

Note that the Place du Mistral will be undergoing changes, with the famous bar decorations removed last January. The exterior shots will be shot in the village of Allauche in the village of Bouches-du-Rhône, which is not far from Marseille. The interior of the bar, which was previously managed by Roland (Michel Cordes), will be much more modern and trendy.
