Corinthians experiences its worst season after 26 rounds in the history of the points race

Coming through the 2007 season, Corinthians achieved its worst score in the scoring era after 26 rounds.

In this edition of the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians’ performance fell short of expectations. This is demonstrated by the fact that, after 26 rounds, Timão has the worst score in the points race era.

So far Alvinegro Paulista has won just 31 points. Previously, the lowest score recorded was in 2007, with 33 points, when the team faced their first and only relegation in history to date.

Unlike the current situation, Corinthians achieved 55 points in 2017, when they last won the Brasileirão title. In the years 2005 and 2015, in which Timão was also champion, the season recorded scores above 50, with 50 and 54 points respectively.

Aiming to improve performances, coach Mano Menezes is intensifying his preparations during the FIFA break. The next match is scheduled against Fluminense, Thursday (19th), at 9.30pm (Brasilia time), at the Maracanã Stadium.

Threatened by the relegation zone, Corinthians have just four points more than Vasco, first club in Z4.
