The Academia Brasileira de Cinema (ABC) published this Tuesday (14/6) the list of candidates for the 21st Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix.
The highlight of the ranking is “Marighella”, leader in the nominations, which competes for 17 trophies, including Fiction Film, Best Director Debut (Wagner Moura) and Best Actor (Seu Jorge and Bruno Gagliasso, protagonist and supporting actor in the same category. .).
The second most nominated film is Daniel Filho’s “O Silêncio da Chuva”, which competes for 11 awards, including Best Director and Best Supporting Actress (Cláudia Abreu).
“7 Prisoners” and “Venice” received nine nominations and are tied thirds.
The main curiosities of the list are to be found in the dispute over children’s films, restricted to two titles, and in the anticipated victory of “Bob Cuspe – Nós Não Gostomos de Gente”, the only one nominated in the Best Animation category – cited as “mention of ‘honor”.
In all, the list includes 200 professionals, 17 Brazilian feature films and 10 foreign features, as well as Ibero-American shorts, productions and series.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, on August 10, with a live broadcast on Canal Brasil, YouTube and Instagram.
