A story going back in time
History in four periods. Interrelated characters. The past, present, and future combine to create a time loop that must be broken… On paper, Bodies shares a lot of similarities with Dark, a German series produced by Netflix that ended in 2020 after 3 seasons.
This English work takes place between 1891 and 2052. It begins when four policemen – each living in a different year – discover the body of a naked man who has been shot and wounded in the same street. how did it get there What is the connection between these different investigators? Without knowing it, everyone contributes and discovers a conspiracy that spans a hundred years.
On paper, the body concept is particularly appealing. But it constantly suffers from comparisons to Dark, a huge series that is not only about time travel, but about family and an almost biblical approach to the relationship (Adam and Eve). Especially since it is not so successful.
Bodies linger too long to really grab our attention. It takes a few episodes to really get to know his characters so the treatment between the various characters/investigators is uneven. Actor Kyle Soler, seen in the TV series Andor, steals the show from the rest of the cast. He falls into the shoes of a 19th century lieutenant, in a society that forbids him to be who he really is.
Bodies season 1 consists of 8 episodes. And to know everything about the story, you’ll have to watch them all.
