Netflix clarifies information that it will be launching a free ad package in Brazil

Netflix has clarified information that it intends to launch a free access package for Brazilian consumers between late 2022 and early next year. The platform informed the that analyzes the possibility, but that there is no concrete date for it.

The information was published in Cristina Padiglione’s column in Newspaperwho informed that the idea is to cover the costs of the free package with advertisements, a way to put an end to the ugly phase of subscription sales of the streaming giant.

According to Pavilion, the information was provided by Francisco Ramos, known as Paco, Netflix’s vice president of content for Latin America, and Elisabetta Zenatti, vice president of Netflix’s content in Brazil.

“We will launch an ad-supported subscription. We still don’t know when: it could be between the end of this year and the beginning of the next, ”Zenatti told a Folha columnist.

According to them, this would be one of the alternatives to reach the Brazilian public, and the same is happening in other countries with lower purchasing power.

So far, Netflix offers three different packages in Brazil, with plan prices ranging from R $ 25.90 to R $ 55.90 per month. The idea would be to add a flat room, with free access, without leaving any of the others. That is, those who choose not to watch the ads will continue to be able to subscribe to the platform as normal.

Also, another relevant piece of information is that Netflix intends to include the full catalog in this new package. “We will have the same version of the catalog with advertising and without advertising,” explained Paco.
