Lucas Moura talks about staying at San Paolo: “I don’t want to decide with enthusiasm”

Lucas Moura deflected when asked if he would stay at San Paolo for next season after the 2-0 defeat against Goiás, this Wednesday, in Goiânia, in the 27th round of the Brazilian championship.

With a contract only valid until the end of this year, Lucas has not yet defined his fate. The player has shown that he wants to stay at San Paolo if the club presents a project that makes sense for him, however, at least for now, he prefers not to guarantee his stay.

“I don’t think about it now, I want to concentrate on the rest of the championship, I want to get the victories, the points necessary to get out of this uncomfortable area. Then I enjoy the holidays and decide calmly. I don’t want to decide anything with enthusiasm, anything with emotion, I want to decide with a cool head to make the best decision,” Lucas said.

Behind the scenes, the San Paolo board is already working to ensure that Lucas stays. The club understands that the number 7 is a key part of the squad that will compete in the Copa Libertadores next season. Precisely in view of his return to the continent’s top club championship, the Tricolore does not intend to lose the attacker.

Before returning to Sao Paulo, Lucas Moura received offers from North American football, but at that time he preferred not to move to MLS. From January onwards the player will be free on the market to sign with any club, and he could receive offers that are financially more attractive than those from the Tricolor.

On the other hand, Lucas has a great identification with Sao Paulo, he is an idol of the fans, he recently won the only title that was missing in the club’s gallery and will have the opportunity to compete in the Libertadores in 2024.
