This Sunday, organized Corinthians fans attempted to invade a space reserved for players at the Neo Química Arena after the 1-1 draw against América-MG, last in the Brazilian championship.
The sector serves as access to the car park and also serves as a passage for team delegations. There the athletes also have contact with family members and small groups of fans.
The Military Police managed to stop the fans and, after the attempted invasion, the police were reinforced on site. There was also a lockdown outside the stadium for security reasons.
Immediately after the referee blew the whistle for the end of the match, Corinthians fans had already shown signs of dissatisfaction. Some of them protested against the cast and even threatened, “Hey, you there. I’ll end your life if my Joker falls.”
With the draw, Timão remains close to the Brasileirão’s relegation zone. The team is in 15th place in the standings, with 33 points, three above Z4.
Under pressure, Corinthians will travel to Mato Grosso in the next round to try to rehabilitate against Cuiabá. The duel will take place this Wednesday, starting at 9.30pm (Brasilia time), at the Arena Pantanal.
