Originally, creator Eric Kripke had a five-season plan for The Boys series. That was before measuring the success of spin-off Gen V – Season 2, which was recently confirmed by Prime Video. Although The Protector – or Homelander – and the whole gang were supposed to return in 2024, the screenwriter changed his mind.
In an interview with the media ReverseHe explains:I realized that no one in history was worse than me at predicting the number of seasons of a TV series. I learned my lesson and stopped planning anything like that.”
Eric Kripke specifically refers to the series Supernatural, which he was the showrunner for five seasons before leaving the production, convinced that it would not continue. Ultimately, the program spanned 15 seasons.
His comments also suggest that the Boys series may indeed continue. Will it suffer the same fate as Supernatural? It’s unlikely that Prime Video will produce 15 seasons, but the platform would be wrong if it were to take such a hit and stop after season 5.
In episode 6 of the spin-off Gen V, the character Soldier Boy made a bit of a surprise appearance for a fun sequence.
Gen V is available on Prime Video.
