Albert DuPont is in the second round of a new feature film about the news, in which he plays a newbie to politics but the favorite in the presidential election. In this regard, we return to this wonderful moment shared in his company, a few years ago, when he spoke to us with passion and emotion about his favorite movie scene.
The movie scene that Dupont loves above all is taken from Charles Chaplin’s City Lights, released in 1931. The history of this classic of the seventh art? A wanderer who falls in love with a beautiful and debt-ridden young blind flower seller living with his mother. After a misunderstanding, the florist imagines the poor man who bought her flowers to be a billionaire…
“There’s a scene for me every time I stay there when the florist touches Chaplin’s jacket at the end of City Lights.”Dupont told us about the stars in his eyes. “And by this touch, this formerly blind man recognizes him, he recognizes his benefactor.”
“He was blind, he is no longer. He is waiting for Prince Charming, because he knows that someone has helped him, but he does not know who. And he sees a poor tramp looking at him with wide eyes in the street. He said to him: himself, “Poor boy, I give To him a flower to be beautiful.”
“She takes a flower and, what a genius idea, you put the flower in a button and she recognizes the fabric and says ‘that was you’. That’s how it ends.”DuPont continues in the video, which in our player above finds images of Chaplin’s masterpiece. “I defy you to watch this without wanting to cry. It’s a great idea. It looks like he’s had this idea before and made a movie based on it.”
“It’s absolute perfection in terms of emotion. Since the movie was quite exciting in terms of humor, there’s perfect emotion. Every time, I’m stuck there.”concludes a rather excited Dupontel. “I find it very moving, with absolutely incredible intelligence and emotion. I can see that scene over there with you every time I’m going to stay there. Funny, huh? I think it’s very fair.”
The Second Round, a new film from Albert Dupontel, in which he faces Cécile de France and Nicolas Marie, is currently in theaters.
