Tonight on TV: If you like The First Name, you’ll love this emotional comedy

After taking courses in art history in New York, Daniel Thompson returned to France, where in 1966 he began a long collaboration as screenwriters with his father, Gérard Uri.

It wasn’t until 1999 that Danielle Thompson stepped behind the camera in the choral comedy-drama La Bûche. If he follows up with a romantic comedy (Calage Jet), the budding director is definitely finding his groove in a choral film.

Thus, he returned in 2006 with Fauteuils d’ordinate, a kind of fairy tale where various neurotic characters meet for an evening at the Café des Théâtres, then in 2009 with Le Code changer, which is in a more modern register.

Indeed, the story unfolds in Paris on June 21. As every year, a group of friends gather for dinner to celebrate the Fête de la Musique. But this time, the meal will not be as usual. No more dictatorship of appearance, with its share of frankness, hypocrisy and false good humor!

Between laughter and emotion, Danielle Thompson explores the claims with a real sense of storytelling. In addition, the film is supported by an excellent cast: Karin Viard, Danny Boon, Marina Hands, Patrick Bruel, Emmanuel Seiner, Patrick Chesnais, Pierre Ardit and Marina Fois. A delicious recipe that attracted more than 1.6 million French people to the theaters.
