There are still no major details about this version of Ken and what his role in live Barbie will be, but it is assumed that the character will play a major role in the plot of the film.
Ryan Gosling was cast in the role of Ken in late 2021 and has always been Warner Bros. ‘first choice on paper. He initially turned down the role, due to scheduling conflicts, but the studio insisted he join the production, which he eventually did.
With the exception of the cast, little is known about “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and directed by award-winning Greta Gerwig. In addition to Robbie and Gosling, we know the cast includes names like Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Hari Nef and Ncuti Gatwa. The latest addition to the cast was singer Dua Lipa.
This was not the first official image from the film released by Warner Bros. In late April, an image of Margot Robbie as Barbie in a pink convertible was unveiled. Check it out here.
Robbie spoke THR about the film and her character, and guarantees that the idea is contrary to what is expected of a Barbie movie. “There’s something about Barbie where the intellectual property, the name itself, people immediately get an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what this is about,’ but our goal is to be like ‘Whatever what you are. thinking, ‘we’re going to give you something completely different, what you didn’t know you wanted,’ “the actress said.
The actress also commented on criticism of the toy line for promoting an unrealistic body model. “Ok, comes with a lot of luggage! And many nostalgic connections. But with that come many interesting ways to attack this. People often hear Barbie and think, ‘I know what this movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing, and they think, ‘Oh well, maybe I don’t know …’. “
“Barbie” will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023.
