Max, the platform that replaced HBO Max in the United States, included a tribute to actor Matthew Perry, Chandler from Friends, at the beginning of each of the series’ ten seasons. Perry died on Saturday (28), aged 54.
To honor the actor, the streaming platform included an image in the form of a free ticket at the beginning of the seasons. “In memory of Matthew Perry 1969-2023,” reads the postcard, which appears on screen for about five seconds before the series begins.
For now the freebie appears only on the American version of the platform.
Death of Matthew Perry
The LA Times and the website TMZ, which first reported the Friends actor’s death, published that Perry’s body was found Saturday in a hot tub at his home.
Perry’s autopsy was inconclusive, while authorities await the results of toxicology tests.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, an LAPD spokesperson told CBS News, the BBC’s US partner.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office updated its filing Sunday to say the case has been postponed. This usually means that the autopsy examination is complete, but more details are needed.
