Disney stars experience LGBTQIA + crush in teen comedy trailer

The Star + platform has released the subtitled trailer for “Crush: Colorful Love,” which advances in a field dominated by Netflix: romantic comedies for teenagers. But with one big difference: it’s a romantic comedy for lesbian teens. What’s more: it’s a romantic comedy in which famous Disney actresses fall in love.

The streaming war has already spawned some rom-coms featuring gay teens, but the lesbian offering is still very limited. “Crush” raises the LGBTQIA + rainbow with a modern story about a high school student seeking first love who finds herself caught up in an accidental love triangle.

In the plot, the young and open Page decides to go against all her artistic inclinations to join the school’s athletics team, only to approach the girl she has always been in love with. But there she approaches the sister of her crush and realizes that her heart is starting to beat faster.

Page is played by Rowan Blanchard (former star of the Disney series “Girl Meets the World”) and her crushes are Isabella Ferreira (from the gay comedy series “Love, Victor”) and Auli’i Cravalho (none other than the “Moana “). Additionally, Megan Mullally (from the pioneering gay sitcom “Will & Grace”) plays the mother of the protagonist and Tyler Alvarez (“I Never …”) plays her best friend.

“Crush” is director Sammi Cohen’s first feature film (from the “CollegeHumor Originals” series) and will debut on Friday (6/17) in Brazil.
