The shooting guard impressed the Japanese with his numbers; Winner and basket in several games, this was Didi’s calling card at the start of the season in the Japanese B.League
Brazilian winger Didi Louzada recently joined Sun Rockers Shibuya for the 2025/26 Japanese B.League season, marking the start of a new chapter in his international career.
After impressive seasons in Brazil – especially with Franca Basquete – Louzada arrives in Tokyo with clear ambitions: to maintain the good momentum, adapt to the Japanese style of play and contribute decisively to the Sun Rockers establishing themselves among the main forces of the league and the season has just begun and the results are impressive.
Didi has gradually found his playing rhythm in Japan, however, in eight games played so far, the Brazilian has played an average of 28 minutes per game and recorded averages of 13.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and a game-winner in the game against Ibaraki Robotsem, who scored 18 points and took the win 84 to 82.
– When I received the offer to come to Japan I didn’t think twice, I know the strength of the championship and how much I can make my contribution, I am very happy with this start of the season and I know that I still have a lot to give – explained Didi, who in the last season at Franca averaged 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Louzada has extensive international experience in 2019, was drafted in the NBA 35th overall by the Atlanta Hawks, before his rights were traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, played two seasons in Australia with the Sydney Kings, and then had one final stint in the NBA playing for the Portland Trail Blazers in 21/22 and then the Cleveland Cavaliers in 22/23 before returning to Brazil. There are 12 games in the NBA and ten in the G League, the US development league.
The transition to Japanese basketball represents a challenge from both a technical and cultural point of view: the pace, tactical discipline and intensity of the defense of the B.League require adaptation. However, Louzada arrives armed with confidence after an upward trajectory in Brazil, where he was already identified as an evolving player and gained international experience in national teams.
For Sun Rockers Shibuya, the signing of Louzada symbolizes a bet with a modern profile: an athletic player, capable of scoring in transition, infiltrating and contributing to offensive rebounding, as well as bringing experience in high-level South American competitions. The expectation is that he will become a regular player in the starting five, helping the team advance in the decisive stages of the season and expand its reach in the Asian market.
– In all the clubs I have been to I have created a history that I am proud of and I know that here it will be no different, the fans can expect that together we will write a history of many victories at Sun Rockers Shibuya – concluded Didi.
