Starlink Internet has faster speeds in SC, survey shows

The Minha Conexão survey showed that SC had the fastest Starlink internet speed between July and September; the worst performance was recorded in RN

In Brazil, Internet provided by Starlink satellites, from SpaceX, reached an average speed of 71.33 Mbps between the months of July and September. The data comes from the Minha Conexão ranking, a quarterly survey that analyzes broadband performance in municipalities and operators across the country.

According to data from Minha Conexão, Starlink Internet reached 103.12 Mbps in Santa Catarina, the fastest speed in Brazil. Rio Grande do Norte, on the other hand, recorded 28.47 Mbps, the worst performance in the country. In Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro the speed recorded was 74.56 Mbps and 78.67 Mbps respectively.

Last year, connectivity consultancy Ookla assessed the Starlink Internet Performance in different regions. The results showed that Starlink offers download speeds of 128.38 Mbps in Brazil, beating competitors such as Viasat and HughesNet.

SpaceX, a company founded by Elon Musk, claims that its Internet connection can reach download speeds of up to 220 Mbps, with latency of up to 50 milliseconds. The company recommends Starlink for users in remote regions without access to fiber optics.

Starlink Internet in Brazil

SpaceX started the Starlink project in 2019, and in 2022, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved the operation of the service in Brazil until 2027. To use it you need to purchase an equipment kit that includes an antenna and router.

Previously, the monthly fee for the service cost R $ 530 per month, but in May SpaceX announced a 20% discount for Brazilian users. Therefore, Starlink Internet now costs R $ 184, excluding taxes.
