Marvel Studios will change. Responsible for some of the most successful films of recent years, such as the Avengers franchise, the studio announced on Saturday (4) a new label, focused on “more mundane” content, which will begin in January with the debut of Echo
According to the company, the new brand will have stories that are little related to the rest of the company’s universe. In recent years, Marvel has significantly increased the number of productions, focusing not only on cinema, but also on Disney Plus.
The new Marvel series will be under the new label
According to Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming at Marvel Studios, the first production of the new label will be Echo, whose release is scheduled for January next year. The executive also explained that it will not be necessary to have seen other MCU content to understand the new series.
Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more earthy, character-driven stories to the screen and, in the case of Echo, focusing on smaller stakes than the broader MCU continuity. Just as in the comics, fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider story, our audience doesn’t need to have seen any other Marvel series to understand what’s going on in Maya’s story.

The series will tell the origin story of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox). “She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she wants to move forward,” an excerpt from the synopsis says.
