NCIS: Bad news for fans of the detective series

It’s been more than 5 months since Hollywood was paralyzed by an unprecedented strike. Although the writers finally reached an agreement with the studios, now it is the actors who are trying to make their voices heard and protect their rights.

But while an agreement should be reached in the coming days, American TV channels are already beginning to predetermine their broadcast schedules and plan to resume filming, which should happen at the end of November, if all goes well.

But due to this strike, which caused a major production delay, the number of episodes in the new seasons of various series of the network will be significantly reduced.

10 to 13 episodes for NCIS

In order to secure an October broadcast, which is usually the start date for most series offered on television, new scripts must begin to be written in the spring, early in the year, for summer filming.

However, with the writers’ strike, then the actors’ strike, that schedule was completely turned upside down. Therefore, the start of shooting of new seasons is several months late.

A delay that will have serious consequences for the series. Because if the performances are renewed, by writing the scripts, the 2023/2024 season is already well underway. In American TV series, their season will be shortened significantly.

According to the information TVLineThe channels will almost halve the number of episodes, as will happen for season 21 of NCIS (which survived the departure of one of its iconic characters).

Although the writers of the detective series have been very productive since the strike ended last month, it does not allow for a full season. According to the source, production of the fiction should begin at the end of November. If the schedule holds, the 21st season, consisting of 13 episodes, could be considered one of the oldest series on American television.

As for other CBS procedurals, notably the NCIS: Hawai’i and FBI franchises, they are expected to have seasons of 10 to 13 episodes, with filming slated to begin after Thanksgiving (that is, after Thursday, Nov. 23).

The same goes for the comedy of Young Sheldon. Therefore, we will probably have to wait until the beginning of 2024 to discover the new adventures of the heroes of NCIS.
