While the wait gets longer and longer as you wait for Grey’s Anatomy to return to our screens, fans of the show got another bit of bad news today regarding the upcoming 20th season…
Grey’s Anatomy in a shortened version
As previously announced, the fiction will only air on ABC (the channel that broadcasts the medical show in the United States) in 2024. Recall that the general strike in Hollywood blocked the renewal of many productions last summer. Including Grey’s Anatomy.
But while the winds of protest finally die down across the Atlantic, it’s clear that the 2023/2024 season is already well under way… So, with shows back on the grid nearly halfway through the year, series will have to rethink their episode count. Down!
Season 20 is split in half
Therefore, the next salvo of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital Super Doctors adventures should be just ten episodes long! Thus, the twentieth season of Grey’s Anatomy will become the shortest in its long history, after the first season, which was divided into nine units.
Grey’s Anatomy shouldn’t be the only fiction where a few episodes are cut. Still on ABC, Grey’s Anatomy: Station 19, The Rookie: Los Angeles Cop and Good Doctor will also have fewer episodes on offer in 2023/2024. Ten episodes should be canned there as well, compared to the usual twenty.
Finally, this maneuver should be extended to other American channels, such as CBS, which offers NCIS to its viewers in particular. Special Forces Agents, on the other hand, will only be allowed thirteen episodes for Season 21, with filming resuming in November 2023!
