The attack on the School

A 16-year-old student shot three people on the morning of October 23, inside the Sapopemba state school. One of the students, 17 years old and in her third year of high school, died from her injuries and died after being admitted to a hospital in the region. The other victims are fine. A fourth student also suffered minor injuries as she tried to escape the shooter.

After the attack, the young man gave the school coordinator the 38 caliber pistol that belonged to his father and handed himself over to the police. He was taken to the city’s 70th DP, where he was interviewed and sent to the Fundação Casa.

In a press conference following the incident, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), said that the government “feels frustrated and helpless”. According to the politician, the management will review actions to prevent violence in the school environment, implemented in March this year after another school attack in the state.

According to what students reported to Terra, the killer was bullied because he was homosexual. But, according to initial information, the fatal victim was not linked to the homophobic attacks suffered by the 16-year-old. She would have been the first person seen by the young man and would have ended up being hit. In the investigation, the Civil Police of São Paulo is also working on the hypothesis that more people were involved in the attack on the school.
