This Thursday 9 November 2023 from 9.10pm, TF1 invites its viewers to watch the launch of Master Crimes, its new series starring Muriel Robin. Here the comedian plays Louise Arbus, a professor of psycho-criminology at the university, as brilliant as annoying, whose talent is recognized throughout France.
“Master crimes“Adapted from …”kill“?
Contacting the police, he finds himself at a carefully and spectacularly staged crime scene. The victim has a verdict from one of his books: “I am waiting for the perfect killerThe killer seems to be talking to him!
Therefore, Louise Arbus is forced to cooperate with the police to solve this investigation… She forms a colorful duo with Barbara Legendre (Ann Le Nene) and is supported in her investigations by her four fiery students: Samuel (Victor Meutlet), Boris. (Nordin Ganso), Mia (Astrid Roos) and Valentin (Tais Voquieres).
As soon as the film was announced, fans of the murder series (the excellent Viola Davis as Annalize Keating, the heroine of American fiction available on Netflix) cried plagiarism when they read the synopsis of Master Crimes! But is this comparison really valid? Not at all, if Muriel Robin and Anne Le Nen are to be believed!
“TF1 takes responsibility when they do remakes”
The first on the AlloCiné microphone explained: “Master Crimes has only one thing in common with murder: the fact that the hero is a criminal. Besides… the heroine in Murder is dark, troubled, with a drinking problem. This is not at all about Louise, who is a brilliant character! Plus, Master Crimes has a duo and it’s a detective comedy. Murder, on the other hand, is a dramatic thriller…“
“On the one hand, we have a law firm, on the other, a public university… And finally, we had a twisted homicide investigation that examines the psychology of a person in a murder, and we have more investigations that involve heroin, Muriel Robin assured (…) Work is the only thing they have in common! Moreover, TF1 said: if there was an adaptation, they would have announced it!“
Regarding this last point, Anne Le Nene added to AlloCiné: “I was a fan of Murder, I love this series and I know it very well. The only thing that might be similar is that there are students and a teacher (…) I hear people say that, but it’s not true, they need to calm down! TF1 suggests that when they do remakes, As promised and this is us.”
See you on Thursday 9 November at 9.10pm on TF1 for the public to form their own opinion on Master Crimes.
