The Los Angeles Chargers beat the New York Jets with a dominant performance from their defense on Monday Night Football. Playing at MetLife Stadium, LA went 27-6 against New York and went on to record four wins and four losses, the same numbers as the Jets.
In the first quarter, shortly after New York’s first possession, Los Angeles Chargers rookie receiver Derius Davis returned a punt 87 yards and put the first seven points on the board. Also in the first quarter, runner Austin Ekeler ran for a touchdown to make the score 14-0. The runner had 47 yards on 14 carries, as well as two receptions for 23 yards.
They only had field goals in the second quarter. Greg Zuerlein kicked from 47 yards to put the Jets’ first three points on the board and Cameron Dicker, on the clock, hit from 55 yards to make it 17-3 at halftime.

The second half of the game was a great defensive battle highlighted by the Los Angeles Chargers’ hard-fought defense. The team finished the game with eight sacks and three forced fumbles. It was the first time this season that the team didn’t give up any touchdowns. The Jets’ final goal came on another shot by Greg Zurlein, also in the third quarter, to make the score 17-6.
Even though New York’s offense didn’t work, the defense tried to keep the team in the game. With nine minutes left in the game, Cameron Dicker increased the score with a 38-yard kick and with three minutes left, Ekeler ran for his second touchdown and gave the final number of the game, 27-6.

Will Aaron Rodgers return this season?
A very interesting story during the Jets season is the expectation of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ return from injury. He was injured in the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills. He suffered an Achilles tendon injury, which normally takes 6 to 8 months for the player to return to play.
In each start of the team’s game, Rodgers looks better and better after the injury and throws some balls up the field. Rumors say he could take the field in Week 17 of the regular season, 12/28. This would be a record recovery from injury, just three months and 17 days after the injury. Another prediction is that he will return in the playoffs, which begin Jan. 14. However, it is a scary time with this injury.
