Just two years ago, we discovered the TV series based on Stephen King’s story, He Who Keeps the Worm, and we were pleasantly surprised. Even if adaptations of Stephen King’s works are not always happy, the MGM-produced series, directed by Adrien Brody, was enough to undo the curse.
Starring Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire, Chapelwaite is set in 1850 and follows Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody) who, after the death of his wife, moves his family of three children into the ancestral home of Preacher’s Corners, a small, seemingly quiet town in Maine. At sea, however, Charles must soon confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history and fight to end the tragedies that have plagued the Boones for generations.
Unfortunately for Chapelwaite there won’t be a second season, MGM+’s decision came without fanfare. Series co-creator and executive producer Jason Filardi announced the news on X (aka Twitter). Although the series was renewed in February 2022 by Epix and its entry into development as noted varietyThe ax fell.
I’m afraid the story of Captain Boone will end on that beach, the wreck, on the sands of Maine. There will be no season 2. Thanks to all Chapelwaite fans! #Chapelwaite

“I fear that Captain Boone’s story will end on a sandy beach in Maine,” Philard wrote. “There will be no Season 2. Thanks to all Chapelwaite fans!“.
The showrunner thanked fans but did not give a reason for canceling Chapelwaite’s second season. MGM+ (Epix’s new name) has not commented on the cancellation, but it is part of a broader TV trend.
No reason has been given for Chapelwaite’s cancellation, but it is part of a new trend. Over the summer, there were rounds of cancellations and renewals on various streamers, including high-profile series like Peripherals, Flynne’s Worlds at Prime Video, and The Great at Hulu. Analysts have described this phenomenon as a course correction, as the number of live-action series produced in the United States in 2022 will decrease to about 600 in the coming years.
Momk can strike a priori at any time!
