Netflix has released the teaser for “Irmãos Sun”, a new series starring Michelle Yeoh, winner of the 2023 Oscar for best actress for “Everything in every place at the same time”. Released at the Geeked Week online event this Friday (11/10), the preview shows the actress juggling her maternal obligations with arguments and criminal activity.
In the plot, she plays Eileen Sun, a cunning and savvy woman who has built a life for herself and her youngest son, Bruce (Sam Song Li), after leaving the world of crime and gangsters in Taiwan behind. But years after settling in Los Angeles, her past is reconnected with the return of her eldest son, Charles (Justin Chien). Raised as a hardened criminal within a Taiwanese triad run by his father, he travels to the United States to keep his mother and brother safe after his father is killed by an unknown killer. However, he soon discovers that his mother isn’t exactly defenseless.
While the teaser is full of punches, bullets and kicks, “Brothers Sun” is also a family story, as Charles, Bruce and Eileen work to heal the wounds caused by their separation. In the process, they will try to discover what family truly means before one of their countless enemies kills them.
Co-created by Brad Falchuk (“American Horror Story”) and newcomer Byron Wu, the series is directed by Kevin Tancharoen (from “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth”) and debuts January 4.
