“The Witcher” will have new animation. Watch two teasers

Netflix has officially announced a new animation derived from “The Witcher”. Titled “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep,” the project received not one, but two previews during Geeked Week, Netflix’s online event.

In the plot, Geralt of Rivia is hired, as a monster hunter, to investigate a series of attacks on a coastal village and ends up involved in a centuries-old conflict between humans and mermaids. He will have to rely on friends, old and new, to solve the mystery before hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.

Doug Cockle, the iconic voice of the Witcher video games, will voice Geralt of Rivia, who is no longer played by Henry Cavill in the platform series. On the other hand, Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra participate in the production as the voices of their characters Jaskier and Yennefer respectively.

Production details

The production marks the second animated film in the series, after “The Witcher: Legend of the Wolf” (2021), focused on the origins of Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, and based on “A Little Sacrifice”, by Andrzej Sapkowski, a of the first stories of this universe, which was excluded from the first season of the live-action series.

The animation is produced by Studio MIR (“Avatar: The Legend of Korra” and “Voltron: The Legendary Defender”), with a screenplay by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (both authors of “The Witcher”), and directed by Kang Hei Chul (animator of “The Witcher: Legend of the Wolf”).

The first is scheduled for the end of 2024.
