Netflix: This movie created a surprise in 2020, the sequel is finally revealed!

In 2020, Netflix added the low-budget superhero film Code 8 to its catalog. Directed by cousins ​​Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell, it plunged us into a world where 4% of the population was born with supernatural powers. These people are discriminated against and hunted down mercilessly, a former gangster and a drug addict with the gift of telekinesis join forces to put an end to a dangerous network of criminals.

Without much success or any major promotion on the streaming platform, Code 8 still created a surprise in the world’s most watched feature films during its release year. A big win for this product, which would not have seen the light of day without the financial participation of 3,000 people through a crowdfunding campaign.

The following year, Netflix announced that it had acquired the rights to Code 8 to produce a second installment. Shooting from 2021, part 2 will be released on the platform in 2024. The announcement was made this week during the infamous Geeked Week. Also revealed is the first teaser poster featuring Amelie’s cousins, as well as a trailer:

Code 8 Part II this time will focus on a teenager who fights to find justice on behalf of his brother who was killed by the corrupt police. He quickly becomes their next target. A young girl goes for help to an ex-con (played by Robbie) and his accomplice (played by Stephen), a drug addict. Together they face a police sergeant who will use all means to avoid the mask.

With a budget that we imagine is over $2 million for the first one, director Jeff Chan and his team should deliver an even more polished film and an even more controlled world.
