The confusion occurred shortly after the Paraná team opened the scoring in the 45th minute of the second half
The fans of Coritiba and Cruzeiro promoted a widespread brawl on the lawn of the Vila Capanema stadium, in Curitiba, Paraná, during the match between the teams, this Saturday, for the 34th matchday of the Brazilian Championship. The confusion began after 45 minutes of the second half, when striker Robson opened the scoring for the Paraná team. Shortly after the goal, Cruzeiro fans climbed over the fence and invaded the pitch. At the same time, Coritiba fans also jumped onto the pitch and started arguing.
Coritiba’s goal was still checked by VAR at the start of the match – the move was later confirmed. The players ran into the locker room and the game was stopped. Referee Bráulio da Silva Machado had indicated six minutes of injury time. Ronaldo Fenômeno, owner of SAF do Cruzeiro, accompanied the Cruzeiro delegation and attended the match on site.
The Military Police intervened to contain the disturbances and the people involved in the brawl returned to the stands. Most of the people who were at the stadium left the stadium after the confusion. A Coritiba fan required medical attention and was taken away on a stretcher.
Coritiba and Cruzeiro are last in the Brasileirão rankings. With the momentary victory, the Paraná team reaches 29 points, in second place, and keeps alive the dream of escaping from Serie B. The Minas Gerais team, in turn, is in 17th place, opening the Z-4, with 37 points, but with a game less.
