Actors and studios finally reached an agreement a few days ago, the double strike that paralyzed Hollywood for weeks is now over. But we will now have to juggle the consequences, especially on the Disney side, which has disrupted much of its schedule.
In this context, James Gunn’s announcement on Twitter (or X, but the idea is the same) sounds like good news. The director confirms that his Superman: Legacy will be released on the originally scheduled date of July 11, 2025 in the United States and July 9 in France.
Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest shot in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, keep pushing forward, creating some of the most amazing characters and sets I’ve ever seen. The whole career… pic.twitter.com/ntnEbA2fC0

Note the typography, which is particularly reminiscent of the 1950s Superman series and may hint at the colorful tone of the James Gunn film. Which will be filmed next year and will be the first brick of DC’s new shared universe.
David Korenswet, recently seen in Pearl, will don the superhero cape, while Rachel Brosnahan (The Amazing Mrs. Maisel) will be Lois Lane. Lex Luthor is supposed to be there too, but he doesn’t have an interpreter yet.
Unlike Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) or Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
Multiple superheroes and villains in the same movie, proof that James Gunn doesn’t want to wait to give you a glimpse of the DC universe. While the previous version will end on December 20 in France, with Aquaman 2.
