The role of Katniss Everdeen was taken by Jennifer Lawrence
Around 30 actresses auditioned for the role of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Gamesin 2011. The chosen one was Jennifer Lawrence: “She broke down the doors of the place,” said the director Gary Rossin an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via People).
This Wednesday, 15th, The Song of Birds and Serpents arrives in cinemas. The film is a prequel and takes place more than 60 years before the story starring Katniss.

Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan didn’t get the role Hunger Gamesbut participated in another adaptation: The Hostess (2013). The actress became known for starring in films such as A Glimpse of Paradise (2009) and Lady Bird: Time to Fly (2017).
