Enel Brasil announced on Thursday the appointment of Antonio Scala as country manager, replacing Nicola Cotugno, who is leaving the position to retire after five years at the helm of the Brazilian branch of the Italian group.
Cotugno’s departure was defined by the company in October, Enel said in a press release, but was extended until this week due to recent problems encountered by the group’s distributors in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro following heavy storms which have left millions of consumers without electricity.
The executive who now leads Enel in Brazil joined the group in 2009, after holding positions in Italy and leading Enel Green Power in South America.
Until the administrative procedures necessary for Scala’s appointment have been completed, the president of the board of directors of Enel Brasil, Guilherme Gomes Lencastre, will assume the role on an interim basis.
