Tonight on Amazon: The Fall of the Greatest Dictator of the 20th Century

Berlin, April 1945. The Third Reich is dying. Battles are raging in the streets of the capital. Hitler, accompanied by his generals and closest supporters, took refuge in his bunker located in the Chancellery Gardens. Beside him, the Führer’s private secretary Traudl Junge refuses to leave him. While the situation outside worsens, Hitler experiences his final hours and the fall of his regime…

Our 2005 release La Chute was adapted from two works, Hitler’s last daysThe bestseller of Nazi-era historian Joachim Fest published in 2002; and Until the Last Hour: Hitler’s Last Secretaryor Reminiscences of Traddle Junge.

An excellent war film by Oliver Hirschbiegel, the film was supported by a very solid cast, with the luminous Alexandra Maria Lara as the Führer’s secretary in the middle.

But of course, Bruno Ganz, in the mask of Hitler, removes everything in his path. A composition that is both masterful and overwhelming as Mimic with the evil original model is absolutely stunning in the film. Even a cold. Of the many on-screen incarnations of the leader of the Third Reich, some of which are not without merit, Gantz’s stands head and shoulders above his rivals.

His physical resemblance to his original model struck him from the auditions for the role. Autumn “Looks very hard at the fall of the regime. A merciless look. And even certain situations lead to a feeling of humanization of the characters and if Hitler is not described from the beginning to the end as a butcher, “the ideology is conveyed. The protagonists are shown to be completely absurd and insane” Commented Bruno Ganz during the release of the film And Who Left Us in 2019.

Far from the ultimately rather sterile fever pitch that engulfed the film, the question of “Should we get rid of Hitler” Autumn It is a powerful film; An important and fascinating historical insight that shows how the regime’s fanatical resistance allowed it to go all the way, amid the ruins.
