Corinthians will have something new in the list of players linked against Bahia, this Friday. Defender João Pedro Tchoca, 19, will be available to coach Mano Menezes on the bench.
Tchoca, captain of the Under-20s all year, will be involved in the professional squad for only the sixth time this season, the latest report being in September. The athlete, however, has not yet taken the field for the top team.
The defender has been training steadily as a professional since the elimination of the Under 20 team from the Paulista Championship in early October. At this moment, only Tchoca and Léo Mana are the young people from the base who work with the professionals.
João Pedro’s call-up is linked to the disqualification of Uruguayan Bruno Méndez, who was sent off during the 1-0 win against Grêmio, before the FIFA date. The trend is for Gil and Lucas Veríssimo to be the starters in defense against Bahia, while Caetano should be an option alongside Tchoca.
Corinthians and Bahia will face each other this Friday, at 9pm (Brasilia time), at the Neo Química Arena. Timão is in 12th place in the Brazilian championship, with 44 points scored.
