The final of the event, which will take place this Saturday (25th) and Sunday (26th), aims to promote female engagement in the gaming and e-sports communities and also has the support of the Ministry of Sports.
According to the Game Brasil 2021 survey, women represent approximately 51.5% of the electronic gaming audience in Brazil. For Hypebud CEO Gabriel “SeMNick” Moraes, these types of events are critical to the agency’s portfolio. “It’s clear that we have a gender issue to fix in the gaming industry. We need to balance this scale equally. It makes no sense to have so many incredibly talented women who still have to fight so much harder than a man to achieve prominence. The problem is structural and a 100% female championship is the first step towards achieving equity in this universe”, says the executive.
Vivo Girlz On started on November 15 with the qualifiers. On that occasion, the ranking of the 40 best players who will access the final was defined, divided into five teams. All matches will be broadcast in full on the Twitch platform. Big names from the female gaming universe will participate in the competition, such as Tay Brilhante, Maisa Alves, Isa, Acelera, SanzinhaFF and Caarolyt. The winning team will win a prize of R$50 thousand and the runner-up will win R$25 thousand.
Tay Brilhante was born in Belém do Pará and is a pioneer in presenting e-sports competitions in the state. “I have been an e-sports presenter for three years. I currently live in Sao Paulo and present one of the largest Free Fire Emulator competitions, the Max Fyre League, which has great partners such as the Government of Sao Paulo, Jovem Pan, Max Arena, among others. I have already presented the Copa R10, the Ronaldinho Gaúcho championship and several other championships that have visibility in the Free Fire scene. My path reflects the space that we women are gaining in the world of gaming“, comments the presenter.
According to data released by the seventh edition of Pesquisa Game Brasil (PGB), an annual survey on the consumption of electronic games in Brazil, it emerged that 69.8% of Brazilian women play electronic games, regardless of the platform. “We need to look at this ever-growing audience. A few years ago we could even say that we had a niche dominated by men, but today the female audience appears to be the majority among Brazilian gamers, representing 53.8% of the country’s players. Vivo GirlzON has brought the appreciation that we women truly deserve as we are no longer the minority in gaming“, concludes Tay.
Free to play, Free Fire is available for Android and iOS.
