The film tells the story of the eponymous American physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, as he develops the atomic bomb during World War II. The film shows in detail the process of creating the nuclear weapon, featuring historical figures such as Albert Einstein and American politicians of the time, as well as Oppenheimer’s personal life during construction.
One of the focuses of the work, in fact, is the moral dilemma behind whether or not to launch the bomb towards Japan, an event that ended the war in 1945.
The work became known as the Manhattan Project and was described in the book American Prometheus: Triumph and Tragedy by J. Robert Oppenheimerwhich gave rise to the film.
Big names in cinema also appear in the work, such as Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr and Kenneth Branagh.
