The fans demonstrate against the coach, management and fans with phrases and insults
Leader of Brasileirão Throughout much of the competition, Botafogo is in crisis today. With only four rounds left in the competition, the Rio team sees the pressure increasing every day. This Saturday, the Nilton Santos Stadium was born with graffiti in protest against John Textormanager of the Juventus team.
The messages, shared by X (formerly Twitter) Fed up with my heart, show attacks on the American businessman, calling him a “comedian”. The scoreboard and players were also targeted, with phrases such as “team of cowards”, “relaxed players” and “Botafogo is worth more than their lives”.
The new episode is set after the recent conflict between Textor and the Botafogo fans. The American entrepreneur used social media to denounce the threats suffered by the players through the organization, which called for the departure of several athletes, including midfielder Eduardo, one of the team’s strongmen in the first round.
“Really? Is this a joke? You are the least respected and most useless of our wonderful organized fans. The Botafogo family suffers, but does not support you. Respect the men who gave us the hope to dream again,” said Textor, owner of the 90% of the club’s SAF.
The president’s statement is also based on the note released by the club organizers. “Fúria Jovem do Botafogo demands the immediate removal of weak and negligent players who do not represent our desire to become champions. Eduardo, Di Plácido, Marlon Freitas and Cuesta form a bloodless team, bringing enormous frustration in this final stretch of the championship Play for love or all hell will break loose. We demand everyone on the bench. Let’s give space to those who want to win. Punctual salary, no blows.”
Textor was the face of Botafogo in this moment of crisis. He is constantly seen in matches and with the players. He also hired an independent company to analyze possible refereeing errors in the Brazilian championship. The SAF owner said that the tournament was corrupted and that his team should be far ahead of their opponents in the standings.
Despite the declarations, Botafogo appears second, with 61 points, one behind leaders Palmeiras. The next match, which could bring the team back to the top, is against Santos, this Sunday, at 4pm, at Engenhão, in Rio de Janeiro.
