It’s the number 1 series on Netflix right now, and it’s coming straight from Sweden. The land of thrillers and detective works, this country often offers effective fiction that finds its audience on the platform, and this is the case of this new mini-series, which is a hit.
Entitled “Almost a Normal Family”, the six-episode work, adapted from the bestseller of the same name by Matias Edvardsson, captivated subscribers with its poignant plot, breathtaking pace and many twists and turns.
This series tells the story of a 19-year-old woman, Stella Sandel (Alexandra Karlsson Tyfors), who is accused of murdering her boyfriend Chris (Kristian Fandango Sandgren).
Through a long investigation, multiple points of view and twists and turns, the community also discovers the moving journey of a traumatized woman, taking her from a broken family to an explosive finale.
After Almost Normal Family, check out this other series on Netflix!
If you have already finished watching Almost Normal Family and enjoyed this series, I suggest you check out some other fiction also from Sweden that you should also enjoy.
This series has a lot in common with Almost Normal Family: it also has 6 episodes, is also adapted from a bestseller (written by Malin Persson Giolito) and similarly tells how a young woman finds herself accused of murder. .
Titled Quicksand, the mini-series follows the trial of a student named Maja (Hannah Arden), nine months after a school shooting in an affluent suburb of Stockholm. If the young woman seems to have a difficult life, she is especially influenced by her boyfriend Sebastian (Felix Sandman), who hides dark secrets.
If “Almost Normal Family” reveals the truth at the end of the story, Quicksand takes a different approach: it reveals that Maja is the culprit from the beginning. The whole point of the series is to know how he got there, why he is responsible, and above all, how much he was manipulated.
In two timelines – one during the investigation and indictment, and the other during the beginning of the toxic relationship between Maya and Sebastian – Quicksand manages to tell a moving and tragic case that is disturbing – as evidenced by episode 4 – and a portrait of a young woman overcome and surrounded by her demons. They were manipulated by those present.
And good news, Quicksand is available on Netflix, so you can easily catch up. If you liked An Almost Normal Family, you’ll love Quicksand, which AlloCiné viewers rated 4.1 out of 5.
The series An Almost Normal Family and Quicksand are available on Netflix.
