After James Cameron’s hiatus, another cult film is in line for American cinemas. John McTiernan’s Crystal Trap opens in AMC theaters on December 8th. We remind you that the film will not be released on French screens.
While 35 years after it hit theaters, there’s still debate over whether the Bruce Willis-helmed action flick is a Christmas movie or not, AMC Cinemas has clearly chosen their side. Crystal Trap airs 2 days before the end of the year.
With an AlloCiné audience rating of 4.2, the feature film spawned 4 sequels, the last of which was released in 2013. In The Crystal Trap, New York City police officer John McClane comes to find his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia). From whom he has been separated for several months, with the secret hope of reconciling at Christmas. He is the CEO of Nakatomi Corporation, a Japanese multinational company. His boss throws a party to honor his co-workers, which McClane attends. While he is isolated to make phone calls, a commando breaks into the building and cuts off all communications with the outside world. McClain then takes matters into his own hands.
Also starring Alan Rickman, Alexander Godunov, Reginald Veljonsson, Paul Gleeson, and Clarence Gillard, the film grossed $141 million at the international box office on a $28 million budget and quickly climbed to the top of the top action films. The re-release of Crystal Trap will be an opportunity for American audiences to see Bruce Willis again on the big screen.
