Unicamp 2024: which mandatory books should appear in the 2nd phase

Don’t have time to review all Unicamp’s works? We talked to a teacher and chose which ones were most likely to fail the test.

Students approved for the second level of Unicamp 2024 are already counting down to the test. Next Sunday (3) and Monday (4) the final phase of the entrance exam will take place, which guarantees a place at the State University of Campinas. In addition to the classic high school subjects, the jury also requires candidates to read nine books, but this does not mean that all of them will be subject to questions. Let’s explain.

In the second phase of the entrance exam, six test questions are dedicated to the Portuguese language and literature. It doesn’t take a lot of calculations to understand that the math doesn’t add up: it would be impossible for the bank to debit all nine books on the mandatory list. And we agree that the news is good for those applying for entrance exams!

At this point, those who have not had time to read all the books can dedicate themselves to summaries and analyzes of those that most likely fall into the second phase. If you have no idea where to start, the teacher Vanessa Botassoof Poliedro Curso de Campinas, can help.

No stickers to repeat: see what has already fallen in the first phase

The first step in listing the books that have the best chance of appearing in the second phase of Unicamp 2024 is to look back. Right! In the latest editions it is Unicamp tradition to upload part of the list of compulsory works in the first phase of the entrance exam, and the other part in the second. This is not a rule in the announcement and may vary, but it is a trend.

Following this logic, the books that would be less likely to fall into the second phase because they already appeared in the first are: “Seminário dos Ratos”, by Lygia Fagundes Telles; “Olhos d’Água”, by Conceição Evaristo; “O Ateneu”, by Raul Pompeia; “Afternoon”, by Olavo Bilac; “Casa Velha”, by Machado de Assis; and “Carta de Achamento”, by Pero Vaz de Caminha.

Books that leave the list

The second criterion to take into consideration to arrive at the most probable books is the rotation of the list of compulsory works. Books coming out of the entrance exam tend to be uploaded more frequently, as if it were a goodbye.

In this sense the works “A Tarde”, by Olavo Bilac; “Letter of discovery to King D. Manuel”, by Pero Vaz de Caminha; “O Ateneu”, by Raul Pompeia; and “Seminário dos Ratos”, by Lygia Fagundes Telles, would have a better chance of appearing in this edition. It is worth considering, however, that all of these books were also questioned in the first phase.

The compulsory books that should be included in the second phase

Putting all this on the scales, the mandatory bookmakers for the second phase of Unicamp 2024 are:

  • Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll
  • Niketche – A story of polygamy – Paulina Chiziane
  • Selected Songs – Cartola
