A few months before the 2024 Oscars, the traditional awards ceremony for Hollywood’s main film award, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has announced that the award broadcast schedule has been changed: it will now be one hour earlier compared to before, in the case of Brazil from 9pm to 8pm.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the change comes as an attempt to avoid declining ratings on the US East Coast. Due to the long broadcast of the Oscars, which usually lasts 3:30 hours, some locations in different time zones were running out of time as the delay arrived.
According to the strategy, the aim is that, starting an hour early, the awards ceremony will end in prime time.
As usual, the 2024 Oscar nominees will be announced on January 23 of the same year.
Brazil at the 2024 Oscars
The Brazilian Academy of Cinema and Visual Arts announced in September that the film Retratos Fantasmas, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, has been selected to represent Brazil in the 2024 Oscar race. The documentary is vying for a nomination in the Best category international film. See the details here!
