Virgin River on Netflix: Season 6 changes?

Virgin River just finished its fifth season with two special Christmas episodes in which we finally learn the identity of Mel’s father. It follows the 10-episode first installment that aired in September. But the upcoming sixth season will not be the same pattern.

“I don’t know if I will repeat the holiday season again. It’s kind of deja vu, it’s been done before and I feel like we’ve done it without even knowing where to start researching” said Patrick Sean Smith, showrunner for Virgin River Deadline. “I think we’re looking forward to a 10-episode season.“

After filming 10 episodes for seasons 1 through 3, Virgin River increased to 12 episodes for seasons 4 and 5. The romantic drama with Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, whose success cannot be denied, is now expected to return for a 10-episode season. 6 and no more planning special episodes for the end of the year holidays.

The Virgin River writers, led by Patrick Sean Smith, who joined the series as an executive producer early in Season 5, had completed half of the Season 6 script when they went on strike in May.

“We finish the second half.”– he says in the interview in which he reveals “Another jump between the holidays and the start of Season 6“.

Patrick Sean Smith also has good news regarding the prognosis for Doc’s medical trial and will announce more Mel and Jack, weddings and returning villains in the next season, with production expected to begin in the first half of 2024.

“We will start as soon as Vancouver weather permits. Hopefully it will be spring from what I heardAlexandra Breckenridge told Deadline in another interview.I always try to tell them that they should order a season 7 so we can wrap up seasons 6 and 7 and call it a day.“

Although there was no early renewal for Season 7, Breckenridge and Smith have both indicated that they do not intend to end Virgin River with Season 6.I don’t know if this is the last season or not. I hope we get more“- said the actor.

And Smith added:There is no talk of finishing anything. I think as long as these characters are alive, there will always be stories to tell, and that’s an incredible opportunity for any showrunner.“
