The fight is supposed to be possible because Dumbledore is planning how to stop Grindelwald and save someone from being killed by his ex-partner, but again the unbreakable blood pact would not allow him to act against him.
Avada Kedavra does not work at “Fantastic Beasts”
The “Harry Potter” movies explain that this spell can kill instantly (except for Harry when he was a baby), but “The Dumbledore Secrets” does not seem to work as mentioned.
First, the mother of the Qilin creatures receives two Avada Kedavra curses and does not die immediately, as she appears to be dying slowly. Albus Dumbledore and Aberforth Dumbledore later cast an opposite curse that prevented Grindelwald from killing Credins, something that had never happened until Harry received the spell that protected him from Wall attack.

He is known to have sided with Grindelwald for good and also put Newt and others at risk with a plan he was not sure would work. In the “Harry Potter” films, he puts Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy and Harry in danger, but all in order to defeat Voldemort.
