Near Regent’s Park in London, a young Dalmatian named Pongo is bored to death while his master spends his afternoons composing romantic songs. When a dog catches sight of a brilliant spotted female and a young woman accompanying her, he does everything he can to make the meeting happen.
A few months later, Roger and Anita got married. As for Pongo and Perdita, they will become the parents of 15 adorable puppies. But someone else is eagerly awaiting the birth of the little ones: the nasty Cruella, Anita’s former classmate, hopes to get hold of them to make herself a brand new fur coat.
- Tonight with the Family: Released more than 60 years ago, this Disney movie is like no other
101 Dalmatians hit theaters two years after Sleeping Beauty (and with a smaller budget), a success on every level. The well-received box office and critically acclaimed 17th animated classic from Disney Studios also allows itself to innovate and break new ground.
Its unique graphic style stands out from everything that has been done before: much simpler and more refined than its predecessors, the film seems to have come straight out of a comic book. In addition to forging a true visual identity, he made significant savings by relying on the Xerox copier, a new invention that made it possible to animate multiple characters in a feature film at low cost.
Performed in delightful original soundtrack tones Jazz And with a terrifically effective plot, 101 Dalmatians makes an impression, primarily thanks to the richness and quality of its many characters: Pongo (voiced by the great Roger Carell) and Perdita, of course, but also their adorable little ones, who will instantly fall in love with any viewer.
Beyond the Dalmatians, the film also offers viewers plenty of delicious secondary characters, such as the formidable trio of Colonel, Captain and Sergeant Tibbs. Not to forget the two brainless thieves Horace and Jasper – to die for laughs – as well as their fearsome boss, the terrifying Cruella D’Enfer, without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest villains in Disney history.
In short, 101 Dalmatians is the result of an unstoppable and inspired cocktail, a flawless combination of dozens of talents perfectly aligned to offer the whole family a practically perfect show.
