The military police officers involved in the death of the nurse Gessica Melo de Oliveira, during a car chase that took place on Saturday 2nd, in Senador Guiomard (AC), were arrested this Sunday 3rd. After the crime, the State reported that the woman broke through the police checkpoint and was armed, but the family denies this version. According to Sejusp, the soldiers will be investigated by the Internal Affairs of the Military Police, in an “impartial and rapid” manner.

According to incident records, PM teams requested support from the Special Border Group (Gefron) to assist in approaching a vehicle that disobeyed the stop order. Géssica, who was driving the vehicle, performed “dangerous maneuvers”, according to the police.

He would have continued at high speed and disobeyed yet another order to stop. The state’s statement said officers continued to follow the vehicle until “part of an arm holding a firearm was visible.” At this time, “considering the imminent risk to the physical integrity of the police team”, five shots were fired towards the vehicle.

Géssica lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and collided with a wire fence. The police went to the vehicle and when she realized that she was injured, she called the emergency services, cordoned off the scene and provided assistance, taking her to the Senador Guiomard General Hospital. They later learned of her death.

Forensics were also called and, in the area where the car stopped, the officers recovered a loaded and cocked 9 mm caliber pistol. The Military Police opened an investigation through internal affairs to investigate the case.
