It’s every summer’s hit: The Summer When I Became Pretty is a TV series for teenagers, full of romance, drama and sunshine. Available on Prime Video, this fiction has won over its audience who are eagerly waiting for the third season.
If you’re one of them and don’t know what to watch in the meantime, I recommend a new series that just hit Netflix that’s based on The Summer I Became Pretty.
One daughter, two brothers, several possibilities
As in Jenny Han’s fiction, this new series tells the story of a love triangle between a young teenager and two brothers with whom she lives in an idyllic setting. Forget the seaside resort of Cousin’s Beach, head to the great outdoors of Colorado for this twist-filled romance.
Titled My Life with the Walter Boys, the series is also an adaptation of Ali Novak’s best-selling novel, which was published in 2022. Created by Melanie Halsall, this ten-episode fiction follows the emancipation of Jack Howard (Nicky Rodriguez), a 15-year-old New Yorker living in affluent surroundings.
His life is turned upside down when he loses his parents and older sister in an accident. A young girl is forced to leave her privileged and orderly life in New York and settle in the Colorado countryside to live with the Walter family, led by Catherine, played by Sarah Rafferty (Suits, Chicago Med).
The latter, who became Jack’s guardian, was the best friend of his missing mother and has a very large family with her husband George, played by Mark Blucas (Riley in Buffy the Vampire Slayer). There are about ten rowdy boys at the Walters’ house.
And among them are the nervous Alex (Ashby Gentry) and the mysterious Cole (Noah Lalonde), who will bring Jack’s head back. But the girl tries not to be disturbed by her feelings in her new chaotic home, as she is determined to enter Princeton.

As he struggles to adjust to his new life, the feelings and tensions Jack tries to suppress threaten to destroy everything. Will she be able to stay true to herself and find love despite everything?
My Life with the Walter Boys is right up there with new tween series that are rosy, caring, refreshing, and a little swampy, like Outer Banks, My First Times, and The Summer I Became Pretty. Blending primal emotions, family issues and the search for identity, Netflix’s new fiction has everything to appeal to the platform’s subscribers and provide enjoyable viewing evenings.
The series My Life with Walter Boys is available on Netflix.
