Pixar’s animation studios had not yet celebrated the tenth anniversary of the first feature film, Toy Story, when the public discovered their new production, The Incredibles, in 2004.
The company was then in full expansion, having just experienced new worldwide success the previous year with Finding Nemo (which we’ve already quizzed), a bona fide box office hit approaching the iconic ten million mark. France and a billion in revenue worldwide to date.
Once again, it succeeds in this new cartoon featuring the Parrs, a family like no other, all of whose members are gifted with superpowers. As with many Pixar successes, the film will have a sequel in 2018, which will be broadcast tonight on the M6. In this regard, we offer a quiz on the first part! Before that, some shooting secrets.

Following the toys from Toy Story, the ants from 1001 Paws, the monsters from Monsters Inc. and the fish from Finding Nemo, The Incredibles is Pixar’s first animated film to feature humans.

In the original version, many Hollywood stars lend their voices to The Incredibles, including Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee and Holly Hunter. In the French version, the adventure featured personalities from very different backgrounds: singer Laurie, presenter Amanda Lear, news anchor Patrick Poivre d’Arvor and actor and comedian Bruno Salomone.
Superheroes in the fitting room
The costumes for The Incredibles required a significant amount of work, with 150 different outfits designed and made for every character, main or supporting. The difficulty of creating this outfit prompted director Brad Bird to say with humor:That in computer graphics it is much easier to blow up a planet than to grab one character’s shirt over another!“.
