Sepultura, a thrash metal group formed in 1984, one of the biggest names in Brazilian music abroad, has announced that it will say goodbye to the stage. But first, the promise is to say goodbye in style. The details of the project were revealed during an event this Friday (8), in Sao Paulo.
The “Celebrating Life Through Death” tour, which will begin in March 2024 – the year in which the group celebrates 40 years of activity – is expected to visit 40 different cities on different continents over the course of eighteen months. After that, the plan is to release a live album with 40 tracks recorded during these shows.
Sepultura currently consists of Andreas Kisser on guitar, Derrick Green on vocals, Eloy Casagrande on drums and Paulo Xisto on bass (the only member of the original lineup).
According to Kisser, who has led Sepultura for the last 25 years, the end is “a conscious and planned death” and the band “leaves the scene with a feeling of duty accomplished”.
