Movie quiz: 10 questions about Batman and the Joker!

Batman vs Joker is one of the top pop culture rivalries that the public loves, like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker dueling, Harry Potter fighting Voldemort or the Avengers facing Thanos.

These two characters from the DC universe have had several interpreters during their big screen appearances (rank the Batman movies, from worst to best). The Gotham vigilante’s costume has been worn by no less than seven actors since 1966’s Leslie H. After Martinson’s film, starring Adam West.

We would have to wait nearly thirty years to find Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s version of Batman, released in 1989, a role he would return to two years later in Batman: The Challenge and more recently in The Flash.

It was then that the Schumacher era allowed two new actors to play Bat-Man, namely Val Kilmer in Batman Forever, then George Clooney in Batman and Robin.

Then in the 2000s, it will be Christian Bale’s turn with Christopher Nolan’s signature trilogy, followed by Ben Affleck also three times (Batman V Superman, Justice League and The Flash) and finally Robert Pattison in Matt Reeves’ Batman. Continuation is expected in 2025.

In The Dark Knight, the late Heath Ledger caused a sensation with an unusual performance opposite Christian Bale, before Joaquin Phoenix offered his personal version of the Joker in Todd Phillips’ film, a role he will return to this year with Lady Gaga. A sequel, titled Folie à deux, is slated for an October release.
