Lightyear: Dubbing Buzz Was ‘Scary,’ Says Chris Evans

Known as the interpreter of Captain America, Chris Evans had difficulty voicing Lightyear

Chris Evans admitted difficulty in entering the world of dubbing in an interview with Buzzfeed Celeb (via Screen Rant). Known for several film roles such as captain America at the MCUactor lived protagonist of lightyear – universe movie Toy Story.

for the project, disney chose to change the voice actor from buzz in the films of the original franchise. This happened because the character of lightyear is the astronaut who inspired the toy Andy.

For Evansexperience was challenging and required effort to convey emotions through voice: “Dubbing is… scary, because you only have one path to use. It takes a while to understand how colorful you can be.”

In the Brazilian version, Marcos Mion lent voice to buzz. “What people are slowly understanding is that it’s a new character, the buzz human being”, said Mion The Rolling Stone Brazil.

Chris Evans responds to homophobic criticism of the film: ‘Idiots’

Because of lesbian kiss between characters, lightyear was banned in three Middle Eastern countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait) and Chris Evansthe character’s voice actor in the original version, responded to the homophobic criticism that the animation received.

“The truth is, these people are idiots. Every time there is social advancement when we wake up. American history, human history, is about waking up socially and growing up. That’s what makes us good,” he told the The Guardian (via NME).
