Corinthians president confirms that Mano Menezes has asked Yuri Alberto to stay until 2024

Augusto Melo, president of Corinthians for the next three years, confirmed that coach Mano Menezes has asked for striker Yuri Alberto to stay until 2024.

In an interview with TV Bandeirantes, The new president of Timão declared that the number 9 is part of the plans of the technical committee. However, the sporting director was unable to update the situation of defender Bruno Méndez, who is out of contract and has not yet contacted the club to negotiate a new contract.

Augusto also explained the departure of players such as Renato Augusto, Gil and Giuliano, whose contracts will not be renewed. The president said the decision was taken “by mutual agreement” and had the approval of the technical committee.

“It was by mutual agreement. Corinthians must go through a reformulation, a younger team. Our option is due to the high salaries, but also to have a younger and tougher team. By mutual agreement, it was decided that not we would have renewed it”, commented Augusto, who also confirmed that the athletes were informed of their dismissal by the current management.

From Monday (11th) Corinthians will take an aggressive position in the football market. The club is already monitoring athletes across the continent but hopes to continue negotiations in the coming days.

Augusto takes over at Corinthians on January 2nd and the team will reunite with coach Dr. Joaquim Grava on the 7th.
