Paul McCartney may announce retirement after Brazil tour

Paul McCartney’s legendary career could come to an end in the next few days along with the end of his “Got Back” tour in Brazil. The information was suggested by journalist Marcelo Fróes, but is still treated as a strong rumor.

However, the possible retirement of the former Beatles has several reasons, mainly Paul’s advanced age. The artist is currently 81 years old and his musical career has already crossed the 60-year mark, with the release of a recent album, “McCartney III”, in 2020.

The ordeal was further fueled by the arrival of Paul’s wife, Nancy, in the city of Sao Paulo to attend this week’s shows. In addition, the musician’s eldest daughters, Mary and Stella, as well as the American star Matthew McConaughey and businessman Guy Oseary, responsible for managing Madonna’s career, will also participate in their father’s last performance in Rio de Janeiro.

Paul McCartney will say goodbye to the Brazilian stage next Saturday (16/12), at the Maracanã stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. In the past, the English artist gave a historic performance in front of 184,000 people present at the venue.

End of the line

Passionate about music, Paul McCartney founded his first band “The Quarrymen” together with John Lennon (1940-1980), formed in 1957. Three years later, the group changed its name to “The Beatles” with the participation of guitarist George Harrison.

In 1962 the classic lineup was formed with the entry of Ringo Starr on drums. In total, McCartney had 12 studio albums with the band and another 25 albums after the quartet broke up, including his work with the group Wings.

Still unconfirmed, McCartney’s retirement could be announced with a strategy similar to that of Ozzy Osbourne, who announced he would say goodbye to touring, but will still perform sporadic shows at major events.
